Since each and every journalist or blogger worth his or her salt is coming up the best list, the worst list, the fucked up list and what all lists that exist in the trash cans inside the head... I've had not the slightest inclination to start one of my own. This feeling could also be the basis to explain to many readers as to why sometimes I don't do reviews for many movies they expect I would - cause it has been done to death by the million odd bloggers online along with the professional critics that there remains nothing more to add or say. (I know I know, I'm going tangent again from the topic of this post)
So here's ...

[this piece is written for Blogbharti who are having a festival of sorts for articles written by their favorite authors. They accidentally emailed me too and thus forms the origin and history of this post :) ]
"Lets go and watch this one"
I'm tired to my bones. It's been 4 days and 3 more to go. The electrifying excitement hasn't dimmed one bit. The energy though, is at an all time low. I need some rest.
So as the four of us stood in the heart of Hollywood, inside this mecca of a theater that is the hot spot for celebrities, festivals and movie events, three barring me are ready to walk in to watch "The lives of others". I hesitate and ...

It's been a long time since the day of catching the Bombay locals to Churchgate to get to my Nariman Point office. The whole point of leaving Bombay was to escape from that damn train and the crowd. It seems, from what I hear, is worse than where I had left it at. The first day of my job, saw me catching the 7:40 fast... the Borivili to Andheri to Bandra to Bombay Central (did I get that right... gosh it's been over 10 years since I last saw Bombay)
Little change. For the last 2 months, I'm on the 6:18 to Los Angeles. The crowd is less. The crowd is definitely civil. There is a queue and everyone gets on ...

The question I get is "Why?"... from most who know me on a personal level. They have reasons to ask the question. And yep, it's a very valid question. The PFCOne Film Festival saw me stressed to levels I haven't experienced for a long time... the last bright stressful moment I remember was trying to save a million dollar contract that would be lost and the blame would fall on my the then 26 year old shoulders. In short - my boss would have thrown me off the 30th floor office in the beautiful concrete Genzai district.
So why? The questioners after the festival see me as going cranky. I have these days developed a wonderfully short temperament that ...

Ah... the joys a day cut into half... just the working part, I mean in case that line sent you picking up a hammer to knock me down... It's a Christmas luncheon at the Grove in Hollywood, followed by drinks, movies etc. Sponsored by the office I work in. Unfortunately I won't be going. And fortunately I can be left alone for a while as I zip back home and get ready to watch some mouth watering flicks playing at the theaters. Juno. No Country for Old Men. I am Legend. Hitman. and half a dozen others. I already see a hundred bucks floating away.
A few emails questioned there aren't much of op-ed pieces on the current events or issues ...

[originally written for PassionForCinema.com]
Saturday Night. Live from HQ. Watching Aaja Nachle. Have no idea whether the DVD is original or pirated. Put it in the player. FBI warning shows up.
You have no clue yet. Cause all pirated DVDs these days come with FBI warning - Illegal copying etc. etc. of this movie is prohibited and a penalty of $$$$$ is applicable etc. etc. I guess even the video piracy business is now legitimate in the US of A and has been given protection by the FBI.
Post FBI Warning frame.
A yellow cloud about 5 inches in width and 2 inches in length plops right up in the top center of the screen and makes itself comfortable there sitting throughout ...

I have a headache. A pressure zone around my right side of the brain. It's pulsating. Humming. I don't know. It's knocking. It's irritating me. It's eating me up. I'm engulfed inside this huge layer of hate. I hating everything. I'm hating even this layer that sends in wave after wave of another. And I'm hating the fact that I missed the "am" in the last line.
This is shit Tony. This is fucking shit. The guy sitting on the table is trying to eat his food as softly as he can. But I can hear him Tony. The scratching of the fork on his plate, the chewing sound in his mouth, the spit that is sinking in his crushed ...
