Two faced men… a few instances in PFC’s existence
Sorry dear readers, no fiction today… still struggling with getting my Enterprise Architect project off the ground and hopefully will be able to get some help on it from PJ. Besides that a hundred and twenty four entries for the festival is kicking my ass. I mean it really is kicking my ass.
So the work tension plus the overload of festival entries made me just drop everything and write this post as I sit in my office… it’s chilly today but mercifully the sun is out. Hollywood hills looks so beautiful from my office window…
An hour ago was browsing through the backend data of PFC… checking ratings of each posts, who’s rating whom, how much and then my eyes fell on a guy “M” who rated PFCOne’s post - “List of Entries” - a one star. Normally I would have moved on without giving it a second thought, but then somehow there was this feeling that I’ve heard “M’s” name somewhere.
Sure enough. “M” has submitted his movie for the festival and even wrote a nice thank you comment in the same post. Three days later, that is today he comes and rates that very post at one star. The star means nothing to me, but the intention of it is saddening.
Why would someone who’s film you are going to show on your own server on your own cost and who thanks you for showing his movie, secretly goes behind and tries to back stab you. The one star may have no significance but to me it showed the man’s intention to stab you in the most discreet possible way he could…
It isn’t new.
A couple of months ago a guy of Indian origin working in Hollywood came on PFC. He had a fairly good knowledge about cinema and we invited him.
Now it is very clear to many of us that people have their own objectives, goals and agendas for coming on PFC. I have no problems with that, as long as the person supports cinema and brings his own added value to the website. Hence I didn’t give it a second thought when the person on writing a post would go to all featured authors posts on PFC and tell them in the comments section to read his post. A few authors complained to me in private. I just let it go.
Then a few weeks later he invited me to attend a writers’ conference in Hollywood. I was in two minds. But at his insistence I said “Why not?”… It turned out to be one of those instances where the vibe I got from the person during the conference, made me go ultra quiet. I came back half way through the conference.
Then a week later the guy uses some obscure online name and starts attacking a featured author in the comments section. It took a day for me to find out that it was the same person from Hollywood. It pained me to know that someone who could have spoken on the face to the person chose to do it discreetly.
A two faced guy again. Upon confronting him, he got defensive and hurled more abuses at me. A day later, he went soft and asked me to forget about it. Two days later I found that the guy wanted the featured author to help him on a project and upon numerous emails when he got no response he started this two faced drama.
It is not that important for me what a person did or didn’t but the fact that some men (and women perhaps) have this profound capability to be the devil themselves and yet not realize that they have turned into one, but being sweet on the face and stabbing the very person once the back is turned. Brutus!
It’s incomprehensible. I cannot understand it. If I don’t get a good vibe, I find it hard to even let out a smile.
And yet, there are people who will not think twice to harm a fellow being.
Around the days when there was this discussion on here at DT, to start a cinema site, one of the bloggers (no connection to PFC) had excitedly commented that he himself had started a similar site very recently and that we should join hands with him to forge some alliance to roll the project.
Being independent at heart, I could envision many problems that could have happened, thus I excused myself but promised we would exchange links and RSS feeds. When PFC took off I made it a point to include his websites feeds on PFC’s News&Blogs section. Sadly though his site wasn’t being updated for months. The initial euphoria on his site seemed to have vanished - as is usually the case with most sites. Seeing no point in keeping news items from his sites which were more than six months old I removed his feeds from PFC.
Now a year later, the person leaves bad sarcastic comments, caustic remarks and displays a “Lalita Pawar-ish” attitude in his comments all over the net towards PFC. I fail to understand why would one do that? Is it because I didn’t join hands with him a year ago when PFC was in its infancy? Or the fact that I removed RSS feeds of his site from PFC? If he had any problems why wouldn’t he like so many others have a humane discussion rather than behave like a sour puss?
Why the two faces? One the overtly sweet guy who a year ago wanted to join hands to create a cinematic platform and then twelve months later behaves like this?
Have we as human beings turned so full of ourselves?
Many more instances… but perhaps this fulfills the quota of negativity for today…
Back to Enterprise Architect or atleast trying to make head or tale out of it…
