THE MOVIE MONGERS’ CLUB
In this Saturday series, we cover unusual groups. This week, Ketan Tanna meets bloggers who are mad about movies
On September 18, when Anurag Kashyap came across a YouTube video of his film Paanch, which has yet to be released in the market, the first thing he did was write a quick blog on passionforcinema.com.
The words tumbled forth. “I woke up this morning and ...
I’ve created a Monster : The Unseen Incidents in one year of PFC - 3

Before recalling the night of November 2006 about my chit chat with Anurag over the phone, it's important for me to rewind back to about 10 years ago which would be around 1997/98. That's the time when it all started. Without anyone realizing it. Destiny has some cute little ways of making you smile, when one goes back in the past recollecting those small thoughts, instances, occassions that collected to form a big wave. And when the wave came, you are like "WHOA! Where did that come from?"... and then when you look back recollecting from memories all those tiny things, you give yourself "that" smile. Small, hidden, just for yourself... yes that smile... it's something only Dear Destiny can ...

Black Friday had recovered it's investment, thats the info I got. PFC's month long aggressive promotion for Black Friday had succeeded on many fronts. Indian community groups were emailing me if we from PFC could meet them for casual, informal dinners to discuss the future of Indian cinema. Indie cinema... And while all this was going around ... I sat there in my living room with a letter in my hand...
I had just been slapped on the face. There was, I clearly remember, ...

It's about 5 am. I groggily wake up and sit for a few seconds on my bed. Barely stumbling over, I make it to my study chair two steps away from my bed. The Mac is switch on, a beep, a few seconds and Firefox is shot open, pointing to it's homepage http://passionforcinema.com... the comments are checked, the spam deleted, the stupidity or the fanaticism placed under a red flag, the comments swiped like Mom would sweep the living room hard tile floor each morning. The right bottom corner of my browser blinks 132 Gmail messages, I log on to my Gmail, and walk out... It's 545am, the sun is still struggling to get out of its dark blanket ...

3:10 to Yuma
The movie's been tagged as a "Western" to watch out for, since it first made its appearance on the internet. A remake of the 1957 flick, 3:10 to Yuma does have a lot going for it, including some good performances by its leading men Russell Crowe and Christian Bale... not to forget some strong support by actors Logan Lerman and Ben Foster.
It's worth noting that in spite of its long absence, director James Mangold makes no attempt in this Western, to resort to gimmicks, the B grade gun fights et. all, instead focussing the camera on the tug and pull between Crowe and Bale all throughout the movie.
Though some may ...
