RGV Ki Aag : Tu Bhaag

Friday, August 31st, 2007
No this isn't me reviewing RGV ki Aag/passion/carnal desire whatever... I haven't watched it yet. But it's a brief scan I ran through a reviews this early morning with my hot cuppa chai. Raja Sen at Rediff goes ballistic - "Bachchan is overwritten", "Mohanlal is overweight encounter cop", "Aag is a B Grade flick"... while Sukanya Verma seems to have written her review while consuming a pint of Old Monk Rum with a dash of Tik-20... or was it 22?... anyways I see a lot of oz in the way they spew venom on Rediff... check their views out... And the grand old man of Bollywood reviews - Khalid Mohamed - awards this RGV creation the Lifetime’s Worst Ever ...

Akbar Jodha… what do they look like?

Thursday, August 30th, 2007
picture-11.pngIndiafm got the pics of Hritik and Aishwarya's getup in Akbar Jodha... hmm... not bad not bad at all. I like how Hritik has been give a faint thin moustache, and Aishwarya for the first time in Hindi movies actually may look very angelic... just like Manisha Koirala in 1942...

The Poster of Johnny Gaddaar and the music launch

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007
Johnny GaddaarAlrighty... we are moving closer and closer to Johnny Gaddaar's release... The first poster of the movie is out and I like the red against the black and white tone... imaginative way of showing the characters in Neil's sunglasses. The poster is followed by a video from Indiafm that shows the music launch of Johnny Gaddaar. And in an innovative style, only one song has been released for a limited few. It's the title track... the one which played in the background of the trailer... if you haven't seen the trailer yet... check out the archives, the post is a few blocks down this one. More songs will be released ...

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is back…

With Saawariya... Being released by Sony... Check the promo out here : http://www.saawariyafilm.com/ (tipped by : Varun) Movie starts shortly after you land on the page... first reaction... he's trying very hard to surpass the visual grandeur (some call it vomit) of Devdas... you gotta give it to him... he is a painter of the large canvas, though skeptics may find the sets gaudy overdone... looking like just that - sets and not reality... who knows... SLB dreams up something visually and I like it though I'm not that big a fan of his script sense...

[Update : here's the direct link to the scanned copy of the article ] One of those posts's where I'll simply shut up and let the quote do the talking... Financial Express. Sunday Edition... Sunday August 19, 05:13 AM Now showing on the net By Sudipta Datta Days after he had launched his blog (www.lagaandvd.com), asking people whether they would be interested in DVDs of Lagaan six years after the movie was made, actor Aamir Khan was overwhelmed by the response. He thanked his fans on the blog, saying, "It's really great to be able to connect with you all directly. First hand, no mediator, no newspaper, magazine or TV channel." When Anil Kapoor was hard-put to explain why a commercial actor was ...

Why Indian Production / Distribution Branches in the USA are a DISASTER

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007
Many of the Indian entertainment sites are reporting that Chak De India is a failure in the USA. Rediff has reported that it collected a meagre US$351,000 from about 62 theaters it was released in the USA. It's basis of labeling Chak De India a "disappointment" is in the comparison to what Salman Khan starrer Partner, earned in it's opening weekend, which is about US$600,000. So if many liked Chak De India, why has it not fared well? After all it's a common notion... and a fact that Shahrukh Khan is a bigger name than Salman Khan, here in the US. Plus Chak De India is a better entertainer according to most who have seen both the movies. Why would ...

My Pickup Guru is out in the open… (ahem…) on TV

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007
I always referred to him as "M"... I revealed about him years after... when I started to blog... he appeared briefly in newspapers, magazines and then in the New York Bestseller list "The Game"... Now he's on TV on a reality show called - "THE PICKUP ARTIST"... It's been four years since he personally taught me about the game. The show has Matador the Indian dude who took me under his wing for a few days. Not sure if LoveDrop is there who took me on the streets of Sunset and physically slapped me to get my body positions rights and my manner of speaking in perfecto... But it's just the first episode so far on VH1... Brings back old memories... I ...
