Desi Train

Last day at work. Woke up with a bit of a nervousness. Evaporated soon thereafter over a hot cup of masala chai. Suparn called up. Actually I noticed he had called me earlier at 4 in the morning. Was too groggy to get up and pick up the phone.

“DID YOU CHECK MY LATEST POST ON PFC?”

What the hell? It must be bombastic.

He asked me to read it and call him back. I did. It was fun, motivating and gave me nice long breaths to savor.

Almost 9am. Got ready and drove to work. Waiting for the final call from HR, which they’ve promised to do by 11am. Gonna take my exit package and head for Gujju thali.

Some say I’m absolutely crazy with no exit strategy, no future plans, no plans to fall back on.

But to quote Quick Gun Murugan “I’m like that only”

The thrill of standing on the edge of life’s cliff is one no roller coaster ride can provide. I’ve done it many times and I’m sure I’ll be doing it quite a few times in the future. And each time I’ve done it, the transition has been a gruesome battle where I would be badly bloodied and bruised yet… I’m doing this again.

Why?

“Because I’m like that only”

Over the years, Friday Masala, has reflected many moods of mine… romantic, pissed off, carefree… this one is different. Quite different.

It’s mixed with feelings of caution, nervousness but mostly the happy-go-lucky wind hitting the euphoria of freedom.

Will I make it? Where will I be going? What next? Stay in IT? Switch careers? Jump here, Hang there…

I’m trying to remain unattached to questions, concerns and the wants for securing a “job”.

I don’t know what happens next. But I know this.
