Top Ten Car Gadgets
It’s not about the car anymore for me… it’s about what’s inside the car… more about what’s inside the cabin than the hood. From a Sentra to a Murano to an FX-35 and currently riding a Prius… I guess I’m a typical guy when it comes to cars…
But what gives us guys a hard-on (besides of course the blonds) are the Gadgets these rides come loaded with or can be later loaded with… Here’s a look at Edmund’s Top Ten Gadgets for your other curvy beauty…
The list begins with Blue Tooth. A must if you are one of those who needs a phone in the left hand while holding the steering with your right. Check out the features where the entire address book can be downloaded into your car’s system and the screen (quite a few cars have the joystick or touchpad driven screens next to the steering wheels… come in those cars which provide navigation systems) flashes the names of those who are calling you on your phone or produces a browsing list of who you would like to call…
In Car Media Storage is the next… don’t have this one yet… but if you have an iPod or any DAP… it takes not more than a few minutes to throw your 6 or 10 or any damn number CD changer and put in a small sleek player that you can connect to your hi powered car stereo system.
Real Time Traffic Information - was available in Japan way back in the early 90s… travelled in one during my visits to Osaka. Just making an entry in the US market… not sure of their availability in Indian metros. But a life saver. Ok… more of a stress eliminator.

Lane Departure Warning System… next on my list… though not sure if it turns into an irritant, warning you each time you change lanes….
Rear Parking Camera… have used and abused it. Came in my FX-35… good one… but one may tend to get over reliant. It’s a great way to impress your friends when you don’t look back while reversing. Me got too over confident at times. Have cause a few bumps with the Rear Parking Camera, though NEVER with the “traditional turn your head and look back” to reverse action.
Self Parking… can save a lot of headaches… I guess more useful for those who have a tough time parallel parking… Blogged about this a while back. The Prius in Japan and Europe are equipped with it. Not sure when they make an entry into the US… Also enthusiastically waiting for the Parking Free Space Notifier where the Parking lot communicates to your car’s screen on what spaces are open and available.
One thing missing is the passenger ejector… one I wish some car manufacturer would develop. Irritating Passenger… push the eject button… problem solved….

How about Self braking too..Bring the car to halt if it is too close to another vehicle infront of it? Would be damn safe..wont it? How about auto drive, self braking, self turning, self navigation….I could sleep at the back seat even while the car is in motion..wow now that is innovative….All those great scientists reading DT…are you listening? ;)

- Kishore, Bay area was good, though could have been better had I not been sick :)
- Sumeet a.k.a. Om, Look who’s talking… All readers of DT… I could hardly stand leave alone take a 300 mile long trip to San Francisco… yet I did so Sumeet and t! could have fun and get to meet a movie personality. And now look..sigh… just because I was sick and slept all through the journey (t! did ALL the driving) while Sumeet sat with his Michael Jackson sun glasses on all through out the journey… and look what I get in DT’s comments sections… More Complaining… Sigh… :-<

hey Oz, looks like you had a Nissan fascination going on there…that’s interesting to know as I am a big Nissan fan. Used to drive a Maxima. I didn’t have much stuff inside the cabin, but had a few goodies under the hood :)
