The Promo of Nishabd

If you still remember, Ram Gopal Varma, a few months ago made a quickie of a movie call Nishabd… starring Amitabh Bachchan and newcomer Jiah Khan.

For one reason or the other, the release of Nishabd was held back, to make way for RGV’s more ambitious productions… like… cough… cough… Shiva…

A few people I’ve spoken to - that have seen parts of the movie have one thing to say - Jiah Khan simply rocks in the movie and her performance completely overshadows… the great Bachchan.

A few did mention that it is one of RGV’s better made films in the last few years.

Well, the posters of Nishabd are out… your reactions on it…

i feel this will be ramu’s much awaited “return” \:D/ first day first show for me :D

i think even Anurag had made some nice comments about the rushes he saw, hope this will bring back the lost glory of rgv

I personally think that this movie will be a disaster.

AB has built a aura around himself as a patriarch. People now relate to him as an idol or an icon ( this is also the reason why people buy stuff that he endorses). With this being further enforced by the roles he has done in K3G, Viruddh, baaghban and now baabul, his position is different. Even in Sarkar his character was more senior citizen-ish. I am not sure that people will accept him in this role. He would get critical acclaim for a brilliant performance etc but I am not sure about the box office reciepts.

I think AB has a habit of going ga ga over any director who gives him 1-2 hits or does something different. He did it with Prakash Mehra and Manmohan Desai ( of course they gave him huge hits) He is now doing the same with RGV. RGV made sarkar and also used AB in Darna Zaroori hai.

AB had given a statement that he would be choosy about his roles after the disaster of Hum Koun Hain. I hope he realises that RGV’s films can end up with him having to make a similar statement.

Is it a lousy rip-off of Lolita or it can stand on its own?

  7. Gattu Says:

I saw the TV promo today & had the same fear as striker mentioned :( And, they’ve not shown the girl’s face on TV:((

    OZ:
is energy level of Characters are taken as performances?
curious to see the film. Its hard to imagine someone overshadowing AB:((
But who knows what RGV wants , he made AB so passive in his expressions in Sarkar.
will have to wait till Nishabd speaks itself

  9. Honhaar Goonda Says:

i cannot stop comparing Nishabd with Naach, even though the former is yet to hit the cinema.

i feel like Nishabd is another Naach but more intense, naive, powerful and better. If RGV has really gone bold with this movie then we will see Big B and Jia together in the end, however, it is highly unlikely that it will happen, cos it could cause an uproar in India. The ending will hold the key to…. imo

  10. C.G. Says:

So this is the Desi Lolita. Why doesn’t Amitabh direct a film and make some good memories for us rather than do acme commericals. I was down in India last year and was horrified to see the legend(ofcourse he was ….a long time ago) stoop to such levels….doing; Becoz actors are doing commercials, models are becoming the second level and so the hierarchy gets screwed up.
Hopefully things work out for everyone.
    Happy New Year everyone!!!
