The following account is a complete work of oz's imagination. Nothing of this sort ever happened. If any persons reading this, feel that any characters mentioned here were them, and they indeed experienced this incident, oz will vehemently, with all the energy in his body and mini-me, deny it and feign ignorance.

Dear Mr. Studio Barbarian Boss,
Please allow me to introduce myself... blah blah blah... (more blah)
.... so in the end you see, my all rounded skill sets, my heavy weight experience in so many different fields that include washing dishes to selling international cutlery, to iron and steel, to software - and now include that with my intense no holds barred passion for cinema, where ...
Professionally speaking, Bollywood’s best & worst
Wednesday, August 30th, 2006
Just landed on this excellent write up by an Assistant Director (AD in Bollywood ishtyle) in Bollywood, at DNA India. Kiran Rathod's slap dash butter spread whiplash shows enough promise to get an invitation to oz's weekend bash...
Here goes, Bollywood's best and worst people through the eyes of Kiran Rathod, an assistant director...
Assistant director Kiran Rathod on the ten best moviewallahs to work with ..and the worst
In Showtown's short-hand we are the ADs (pronounced a-dees), the assistant directors. Sounds dignified, exalted.
But the assistant director's portfolio has its pains and pleasures. Rather than paying through our noses to learn direction formally, which invariably means flying to America's UCLA, we learn on the job at the rancid studios or if we ...
Talk Radio : Don, New Blog and Invitation
Tuesday, August 29th, 2006
It was an impromptu show done last night where BTR still trying to recover from the bugs (we lost our last 3 shows) wanted me to run a test. The test soon turned into a regular show and Sumeet had a lot to tell on the Music of Don, which he didn't cover it here... the show ended abruptly again due to some bugs in BTR's system.
But we can forgive them. They are still beta testing the radio show and we will be patient.
Sumeet, I guess was stuck in traffic and comes in 30 minutes after the show took off, so you have me giving you a glimpse of the New Cinema Blog (we'll be going live verrrrry soon), ...
Don Soundtrack : Care for Jhankaar Beats?

Don: The chase begins Again.: Music Review by Sumeet Borwankar
Isn’t that one of the most awaited movies of this year? OK now, this statement “The Most Awaited Movie of the year†sounds so clichéd especially this year what with so many HUGE movies releasing left right and centre.
Before the release of a movie the other most anticipated release is the movies music. Don is no exception in this category! So, Wassup with the music of Don. Does it live up to the huge expectation? Does the music hold you by the collar and order you to bloody sit at one place and listen to ME? Does it repulse you? What does it do? ...
Hrishikesh Mukherjee has left us…
Sunday, August 27th, 2006
Movie fanatics have been orphaned today... The man, who's stories many of us grew up listening to, has left us. Forever.
Hrishikesh Mukherjee, our dear Hrishi-da is no more. I am shocked beyond words to say anything except put this news link from Rediff. (thanks VC, Sumeet, Punds)
Oh what a sad sad sad day for Hindi Cinema.
Here's a trip down the nostalgic lane called Hrishida, published a few weeks ago, when he was first reported to be hospitalized...
Hrishikesh Mukherjee (Hrishida to his fans) is critical and was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital with chronic renal failure. According to this rediff report: "There has been no significant change in his condition. He remains ...

Don : Soundtrack milna mushkil he nahin namumkin hain
Friday, August 25th, 2006
Amitabh, in the original Don, delivered these words in such a cool, I'm the King style - "Don kon pakadna mushkil he nahin, namumkin hain" (Hinglish: To catch Don isn't just difficult, it's impossible)...
The same seems to be true for the soundtrack. Countless searches for a live streaming audio, innumerable phone calls to my Desi Store to check if Don's CD has arrived has yielded nothing. So while I await for the day to end at work, I have this (only) streaming audio found on Indiafm.com... ofcourse its on an infinite loop playing over and over again... Somehow even if it sounds good, don't know why I have this uncanny feeling where I keep viewing the music as a brushed ...
The End of the “Star System”?
Friday, August 25th, 2006
Sumner Redstone, the 83 year old chairman of Viacom - that owns the Hollywood company Paramount Studios, started a war of the "starry" worlds recently by breaking away from the golden-boy-gone bad.
You see Paramount Studios was in partnership with Tom Cruise's (yes The Tom Cruise) film production company. The partnership lasted for 14 years. The terms of the partnership, roughly were this:
- Paramount payed $10million each year to Cruise's company as a "retainer" fee.
- Paramount in addition payed roughly around $6million to Cruise's company each year as a discretionary fund to "develop ideas" (Is anyone from Parmount even visiting Desitrain.com???)
- For every movie, jointly produced by Cruise and Paramout, Tom Cruise would get 20 percent of whatever the movie ...
When the Gods of Screenwriting met… Part 2
Thursday, August 24th, 2006
And here's the concluding part of Kartik Krishnan's coverage of the Screenwriters' Conference in Pune, organized by the Film and Television Institue of India (FTII). While the first part was heavily loaded with insights, knowledge, highly straightforward opinions and views - the second part doesn't let go of the tight grip over you... Kartik begins Day 2 of the the Conference by attending a speech by Sriram Raghavan (Ek Hasina Thi). Over to Kartik...
DAY 2: AUGUST 20 2006, FTII PUNE

When the Gods of Screenwriting met… Part 1
Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006
The Film and Television Institute of India arranged a Screenwriters Conference in Pune. The first ever. Everyone who was anyone in Bollywood's criminally ignored screenwriting world was present and given a platform to speak.
Kartik Krishnan, Desi Train's eyes and ears on Bollywood's ground zero, was present at the two day conference held on August 19th and 20th.
After much pushing (from my end... damn me can be so pushy), Kartik agreed and delivered the article which goes into the minutest details of the two day event.
I'm so blown away by the coverage of Kartik's article that I'm giving it the status of a Superhit Post even before it is published. From the always straight forward Anurag Kashyap's insights to Abbas Tyrewalla's ...

In case you missed the talk show on Sunday, here's the podcast of the entire segment. Our special guest Jeri, had some pretty interesting stories (minus the ones that involved me) plus some great pieces of advise for Desis in US.
As in the case of our last guest Rakesh, who owns Intrasys, Jeri from Elite Careers too, has offered to help anyone who's having problems with their current employers in the US.
Check out the show for more details. It was fun until, Jeri, like a typical mom starts spanking the hell out of me. Listen to the show by clicking the play button below or download the mp3.
When Stupid people do Stupidiest things
Monday, August 21st, 2006
Shock is the new marketing buzz word. Atleast it seems to be. Atleast in Bombay, India... home to some of the greatest geniuses in the world cranking out ideas, outstanding, that rake in the moolah.
Tragically, Bombay is also the home to some of the world's biggest idiots. And no I'm not talking about those in Bollywood (those are quite a decent lot compared to those mentioned below...)
But there is one idiotic thing I'm itching to do right now, had I been in Bombay. That is to go to a certain newly opened restaurant and pee on them right in full public view.
Idiotic? No it isn't. It's my show of contempt and anger of the people who so fucking stupidly ...
The Goddamn Opener for Approaching Women
Friday, August 18th, 2006
Last night, I had this whole plan to start, run and end the talk radio with the subject of Openers. How to approach a woman in the field, what to say, how to say, what different things to say in what different situations. Moe, our pickup guru and I had been discussing about the show for the last week, and guess what,... we touched upon something that is far more crucial and vital and which comes before the opener.
I kind of completely missed seeing this. In spite of the fact that this most crucial and vital thing was the biggest stumbling block in MY life - that prevented me from approaching women for a long time. I'm glad we did ...
The New Bollywood Baldie
Thursday, August 17th, 2006
So this isn't funny. But I think Akshaye Khanna should have shaved his head a loooooooong time ago instead of wearing those damn irritating wigs of his. (Who the hell selects those wigs for him?)
Apparently someone tipped Akshaye off, that oz shaves his head (inspite of a thick hair growth), and has all the blondies of OC floored. So guess Akshaye Khanna has jumped on the Shave-the-head train. Reaction to his new look could be mixed. You'll either hate it or like it. Me thinks a few pumpings at the gym and Akshaye could as well be Vin Diesel and Sanjeev Kumar rolled into one.
Unfortunately Akshaye has no intention of keeping his shaved look for a long time and definitely ...
Jessica Biel’s Perfect Ass
Wednesday, August 16th, 2006
I'm still rubbing my eyes to see if those are real. As soon as I looked at these pictures at Egotastic, I knew only two things could be true
1. I was completely drunk (which I'm not) and plain horny (which I'm always) to have my eyes and mind make up the illusion of the most perfect ass in the world.
2. David Copperfield must have been somewhere close to Biel to have cast an illusion on the camera taking that picture.
That is a perfect "10" ass I've seen in a loooooooong time. She's seen here at the premiere of The Illusionist.
