Is Your Dell Laptop going Kaboom?
The next time you hear a big bang in your living room, bedroom, study, kitchen, bathroom (or wherever you use your laptop at), don’t panic. This may not be a terrorist related disturbance.
Rather, the cause of this could you be your cute, silent, bunny baby looking… Dell laptop. Yes dear readers. Your Dell laptop could be the thing which sets your pants on fire. Literally!!!
Don’t believe it? Well Gizmodo has been following a recent spate of Dell laptop explosions. They first reported an incident which happened at a conference in Japan. Luckily for the owner the laptop was on a table and not on his lap. Mini-me saved, everything is fine. Until you see the damage caused by the sudden explosion of the laptop below.
Dell called on it. Dell says sorry. Everything seems settled. Until a month later Gizmodo finds that another laptop exploded in an office building. This time it looks like the battery caught fire. The same incident is reported at Reg Hardware. And then it’s found that these are the first of cases. The picture of this particular incident looks like the laptop just walked back from a war zone!
Well so everything was fine after this incident, until a man in Singapore smells smoke… coming out from his briefcase…. that contains… you guessed it right - a Dell laptop and then… BOOM. Australian media, this time, picks up the news.
So what’s going on Dell?

It’s really sad that these things are happening with Dell laptops. Being a former employee and having got a first hand view of their quality control process and having used a lot of Dell products - from laptops to the high-end servers, I only have good things to say about them.
I remember a incident when I was still working with Dell when a colleagues laptop exploded during lunchtime…his cube was in a mess. They nailed it down to a battery issue and there was no repeat till these current incidences. I guess it must be the Chinese batteries!!!
