Myth Versus Reality
Myth: Shah Rukh Khan is the highest paid hero.
Reality: He can command the highest price, but he doesn’t. Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar are the highest paid stars.Myth: Stars charge a lot of black money.
Reality: Most stars today prefer to accept cheque payments.Myth: Stars get their entire fee irrespective of the losses of the producer.
Reality: Stars are a considerate lot. They sometimes do forgo their remuneration if they are convinced about the genuineness of the losses. If not, they may even take legal action to recover their fees. Amitabh Bachchan got the last installment of his pay for Boom from court.Myth: Stars pay their make-up men and hair-dressers themselves.
Reality: They are paid by the producer. Even the personal staff of the stars like spotboys, attendants and drivers gets paid by the producer on the days of shooting, over and above their monthly salary from the star.

Interesting read. I guess the figures stated are one flat fee and not the territorial rights. because considering only flat fee. SRK still tops the list, So, where is the myth? I had heard that Sunny Paa ji gets the rights for London Market, and SRK gets the distribution roghts for some Nizam areas like Hyderabad and a few other areas.A few in the list seriously dont deserve so much. like, Akshaye khanna, he has consistently failed to deliver(no doubting his acting capabilities), Fardeen Khan(cant carry the movie on his own). Viviek Oberoi(what can one say about him…Narcissist?)

figs seem impressive…but then again I (too) am sceptical about only one person - Viveik Anand Oberoi - I find this man a complete Ass***e.He cant act..he looks like a moron and he is such a pain off screen.
I take the liberty of difressing - but I remember on the Koffee with karan show - it was ironical - Karan asked him :Sushmita or the tigers (in Kaal)? and this jackass says “the tigers..I have a tigress to go back home to” (!!!). He was simply overemphasising and showing off that he was dating Ash. And when she was asked about him on a different episode her reply was - “he is a nice boy with a lot of talent/potential” or something to that effect.
He got royally booted…and I am happy that such a narcisstic, overbearing, pompus, untalented donkey has finally understood his position!

That’s still pretty pathetic pay considering India has the biggest film industry in terms of output. The only thing I can say is, India makes great films no doubt, but they seriously need to come out with some fresh stuff that’s not as predictable, because let’s admit, even the new “fresh stuff” like KANK, is so enjoyable, but yet so predictable.. I think a new wave of directors, writers and actors may just make a difference.

hey…its not bad at all. i dont agree with what sophocles said . i agree that he might be an ass in his personal. but what matters is how he acts on screen. he is not all that bad. if this guys sophocles was any better i want to see him act and show me. if people who talk crap and diss people with more talent than them, i want to see how much they can do. they are good for nothing and they know they cannot even come close. no wonder they trash talk. and also they will never make close to as much money as what they make…

HRitk certainly does not get a pay of Rs. 5 crore only. Instead everyone knows that he is the highest paid bollywood star with a pay of Rs. 11-12 crore for a movie…..

these figures are wrong. male actors get paid way more. hrithik does get paid 11.5 crore per film, and salman was offered a 3 film contract for 100 crores, which means over 33 crore per film.. and surprise is that he didn’t sign it, because he thinks his rate may go up even more after partner.
the salary figures above for the female actors are probably more accurate. bollywood is male dominated industry.
bollywood movies have little to offer these days except for stars. that’s why they are so overpaid. people don’t go to films to watch a good film anymore.. but there are exceptions.. good film like Khosla ka Ghosla had small budgets and no big star, but did really well.

Rina, I dont think the figures here are that wrong. Think about this… the biggest grossing hits in Bollywood earn around 60-70 crore. Given this, its impossible to pay one guy 33 crore (salman). What will you pay the other stars then?
