World Cup Soccer Final : It’s France v/s Italy
It’s a France v/s Italy game on Sunday.
France beat Portugal by a solitary goal. A foul in front of the Portugal goal and a penalty kick is awarded to France. Zidane makes no mistake.
The Portuguese had ball possession most of the time, but their offense kept running into the French defense wall. Frankly none of the sides showed any spark offensive-wise. The Portugal offense seemed to be playing amateurish soccer infront of the strong airtight French defense. And the number of mispasses by the Portuguese side seemed to be like they were playing a town league championship instead of the World Cup. Why continue trying your flashy no-look passes when you know they are being intercepted by the French players?
To Portugal’s credit they kept coming on and on all throughout the second half,… alas, only if they showed more variations in their attack and instead of just running the same attack again and again and again… Credit goes to the French defense for clamping them down.
The French seemed content of defending their one goal lead and were lacking in making a run to increase their lead. Will this lacklustre offense be able to crack open the Italian defense in the final?
And does the Italian offense have enough firepower to cut through the French defense?

I am afraid it is going to be Azzuri winning the cup even though my heart is with the French. I think the Italian defence is just a little bit better than the French. Henry has been playing the sole striker and in most of the matches he has looked off color. There is NO WAY the Italians will let hime score. On top of that there is Buffon between the posts…..nothing is going to get past him. Barthez is brilliant but eccenctric, he is liable to make a mistake every once in a while and he almost allowed Figo to score off a fumble collection off a Ronaldo free kick. Italy has more firepower up front than Portugal and the French defence will be extremely busy. Also, I thought that Zidane was a little off color against the Portugese.
And I don’t understand why Domenech is not playing Trezeguet more!!! Also, hope to see more of Vikash Dhorasoo, a desi Mauritian in the French team.

France …. so self contented with 1 goal. till the 1st goal , the played like sure winners… the way they punctured portugal defence time and again during that 35 mins and showing no intention of scoring -thats the word- no intention of scorng. just reached the goal area andd come back.. that was too good and establisehd who was the boss in the game. like a cat playing with a mouse before the kill.
after 35 mins , they played as if its enuf. nothing more to humiliate the opponent. defended like mad.

What the f***K happened to Italy. Did the Pope shaft them or what? I have never seen them play so aggresivley in my life. If they play the same way they played against Germany, then France better watch out. Zidane or no Zidane. And yes I am a big fan of Mr. Zizo.
Last night it looked liked like France were trying to commit Hara kiri in the closing minutes of the match. Dont know why they went in comfort zone with just 1 goal lead. Zizo & his boys should have just finished the founders of Goa with couple more goals.
That reminds me. Quite a bit of my Goan friends (& I have a lot of them) got a fantastic reason to drink excess booze. It was their beloved Portugal that lost the match.
Come to think of it they would have drank the same amount if Portugal would have won.

The French made it to the World Cup 2006 Football Finals. Zinedine Zidane shot in a penalty to being France up 1 Nill in the first half….

I can’t believe the day has come…but it’s Italy for me in the finals…*god, wipe me off the face of this earth*
who would ever think Italy would actually put out 4 in the front…an attacking Italy…wow
anyway, an Italy vs France final…nothing to lose really
just for Zazou’s sake I hope he scores a goal before Italy wins 2-1…it’s probably the only light in the darkness of what is known as an Italy vs France final…would be the perfect send-off for a brilliant futboler…
I cried for Figo…the seine is going to flow through my apartment come sunday…
