Is Your Dell Laptop going Kaboom?

Monday, July 31st, 2006
The next time you hear a big bang in your living room, bedroom, study, kitchen, bathroom (or wherever you use your laptop at), don't panic. This may not be a terrorist related disturbance. Rather, the cause of this could you be your cute, silent, bunny baby looking... Dell laptop. Yes dear readers. Your Dell laptop could be the thing which sets your pants on fire. Literally!!! Don't believe it? Well Gizmodo has been following a recent spate of Dell laptop explosions. They first reported an incident which happened at a conference in Japan. Luckily for the owner the laptop was on a table and not on his lap. Mini-me saved, everything is fine. Until you see the damage ...

Lage Raho Munnabhai : Story kya hain Mamu?

Monday, July 31st, 2006
[Update: For the review of this movie, click here] Thanks to Suri, for the sending in this tip. This is the first time I'm getting a few details about what LRM is all about. Just a glimpse, yet much better than not knowing anything about it. The movie's supposed to be release around September 1st and that doesn't leave it much time to start generating interest via its promos. Mamu thoda jaldi publicity chaloo karne ka na. As per the preview on Yahoo One of the most-awaited films of the year, the sequel sees the original cast, Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, return and they are joined by Dia Mirza and Vidya Balan (of Parineeta fame). Bole to cast ekdum sahi ...

Sunday, July 30th, 2006
I thank all of you who logged on to Desi Talk - The Desi Train Show. In spite of it being a test run, the excitement and enthusiasm was shooting sky high and after about 20 minutes all call-in lines were full. I'm sorry if I had to bump off some of you guys but I was trying to get as many to talk to our panel of experts!!! I'll be requesting Mo (lespupup) to become a regular expert PUA guest on the show. Perhaps dedicate one day each week on this subject. The same for T for foreign movies. If we decide to broadcast the show on a weekday too (besides the Sunday), what time would you best love to listen ...

Omkara : Welcome this Bard-waj

Sunday, July 30th, 2006
The Don rushes into his house to confront his love. The seeds of suspicion sown in his cold calculating brains, are enough to have him seething with doubts, hurt and anger. He is greeted in the corner of his house by his lady love who plays a guitar and sings Stevie Wonder's "I just called to say I love you", a song she's been practicing the entire day to sing for her love. The prickling doubts melt away as the don moves forward to hold lady love in his arms. Such and many more sensitively laced scenarios clearly show you what the team of Omkara chose before embarking on the journey of making this movie... Creativity over commercialism. Passion over puking ...

Omkara : Reviewers copying each other?

Friday, July 28th, 2006
Reviewers are tripping over each other trying to log in their reviews before anybody else. There's an Omkara fever in the reviewer community. After reading some of the reviewers, there a realization bound to dawn on your dear reader. That God has stopped the movement of TIME. Yes, as of now time has stopped moving. You log on at Rediff to read the review of Omkara. You finish reading the review and log on to IndiaFm. After about 3 sentences you realize that you are sort of re-reading the review you read at Rediff. Time has stopped. You think you are at some other website trying to read some other person's opinion about the movie. You are a moron if ...

Is Google hit? Gmail, Adsense are sleeping

Thursday, July 27th, 2006
Update: The issue seems to have been resolved now. (Phew!) Wake up early morning, arrive on my desk with an extra hot almond mocha, fire up the browser and unashamedly land on the first site of the day - my blog. The bloody page wouldn't load up. What the hell?. Forget about it and try to login to my gmail account. Same problem. The gmail page wouldn't load on my screen. The "Waiting for Reply" sign on my browser kept going on and on. Fuck it Start doing my early morning rounds on the latest news, veiws and who slept with who's beau. Many sites wouldn't load up! Same problem. And then I realized that all those sites (including that of yours truly) have google ads ...

Ssh… Sshh… Sushmita Sen is revealing all

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006
Sushmita Sen, yes the former Miss Universe, a current Bollywood actress (last acted in Kalpana Lajmi’s shitty movie), yes the one who threatened the multinational Coke, if they did not take appropriate action on one of their executives (sexual harassment, she alleged), yes the very same Sushmita Sen is now back. How? She’s writing her autobiography. And by the looks of her interview given to Mumbai Mirror, it could start a fire in apunka tinsel town. According to Sushmita, I'm sure readers will sit up on reading the book. Not that it will be very different from what people know of me as a person... So far, different people had written different things about me. But now I'd like to share ...

The UP - Bihar Mafia concept

Monday, July 24th, 2006
It would be quite interesting to see how Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara, releasing this week, will fare at the box office. Will he pull it off? Will we like his adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello? Will the Indian public, in general, be able to digest and enjoy it? The one thing I’ve never enjoyed about Bhardwaj’s previous products is the pace. They tend to be too slow to hold my attention. (It doesn’t help either that I have a short attention span). So even though the previews, trailers and the music videos of Omkara are playing at jet speed on all possible desi channels, it needs to be seen if that happens to be the actual pace in the movie. But the intriguing ...

Friday Vindaloo : From Debts to MILFS

Friday, July 21st, 2006
I fired up the word doc last night to write the next chapter for One Masala Life Please! A few hours later, I delete the whole document. It just isn't shaping up to the levels that would excite me. But its high time I wrote about the boring stuff. My Friday Masala. Bits and pieces of all that I passed by/over/under this week. Loan Consolidation and those Debts KK, a friend, has always been this generous guy I've known. But two days ago, at a bar, I found that it wasn't he who was so generous. It was the credit card companies. The cards he carried in his wallet were flicked out on a mere whim and there went another 100 ...

Fanaa : Someone is (not) thinking

Thursday, July 20th, 2006
Take a look at the chef's preparation. Food is laid out on the table. Designer style. It's mouth watering. It gets you impulsive. Dive in, dive in. You do. The food tastes crap. O Lordy! And that’s what happens to the Shibani Bhatija written, Kunal Kohli directed, Fanaa. On the outset, it’s an interesting concept. Love in the times of terror, tackled earlier by the “always ahead of the times” Mani Ratnam and the “always following him” copy-gang from Bollywood. But this is different. Love happens on the other side of the line. A side which isn’t our side. This provides tremendous scope to get into the inner psyche of the bent on creating hell guy and his inner dual – ...

How to make a million dollars… stupidly…

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006
My roommate's a news junkie. Well not the political news, but all the info lying at slashdot and other places - all over the internet. And when he came with this piece of info while I was having my dinner I was left in a quandary. Should I be laughing? Or should I go to my garage, take out my tool box, open it, take the hammer out of the box, hold the hammer tight, point it to my skull and start slamming it with the hammer. Well, you may fall into a similar state of confusion when you read the latest article at Weir Tech News Hub. What's the article about? The Top 10 Dumbest Online Business Ideas That Made It Big ...
