Kabul Express : The trailer

This movie could be something really really different from what Bollywood has made so far. Just watched the trailer at Indiafm.

The shot techniques and camera angles have high energy and an intriguing bent to them. The colors are clean, easy on the eyes and provide a smoothness to the rugged backdrop of Afghanistan.

It would be too easy to judge and comment on the slight over the top dialogue delivery especially in the case of Arshad Warsi. I’m not gonna do it. Unlike Messers Rediff and company, who in their words were quite tickled when Arshad Warsi points to the camera ans says “Osama Bin Laden”.

Were you tickled? Really? Or was that all you could think about because no blogger on Bollywood has commented on the trailer so far that you could check for “inspiration”?

I thought IndiaFm writers were crap. Rediff seems bent on overtaking them at bullet speed in crappiness.

Whatever Kabul Express may turn out to be in its entirety, you cannot deny the fact that Aditya Chopra, the producer, is experimenting within his own defined parameters, but experimenting courageously nevertheless and it should be commended.

Give him shit, if his produced movies turn out to be duds. But please don’t start running down a trailer which does honestly have quite a few hook points that are different, binding and above all fresh & aboveboard in the wastelands of Bollywood.

Just saw the trailer and I agree, it does look promising. Also, there were no songs in the trailer (that was a surprise for me, I would’ve thought there would be songs since it’s an Indian movie). Chances are it’ll be a while before it hits theaters here in the US though.

You know, I’ve never visited IndiaFM before (for Indian movies, I don’t usually go look at trailers or read previews and what not) but it was a little odd how they attempted to disect the trailer, bit by bit. Some sentences just didn’t seem to make sense to me:

“A one-legged handicapped boy demands the viewer’s mercy.” - how can he demand the viewer’s mercy?

“As the man talks on the intercom in an alien Afghani language, he arranges their means of transport in the form a war tank. There are no cabs or buses in this foreign land.” - I’ve definitely seen auto rickshaws, cabs, and buses in news footage from Afghanistan and the “war” in “war tank” sounds a little redundant. IndiaFM writers definitely need to take a look at the stuff their writing.

ya just saw the trailer, quite interesting!!!. i would like to see if they come up with a few more more trailers as well, so maybe we can get an idea of the movie a bit better.

Indiafm is crap as u said Oz, Taran adarsh is so full of crap. Come to think of it, this man not only reviews the movie but also comments the outcome of the movie as a hit or a flop!!! hmm interesting huh? no wait something more to come…. he even predicts what the viewers would understand and what they wont!!! wow heard of Lord Vishnu’s 10th avatar is coming soon.. hmm maybe thats Taran Adarsh.
