What’s weird about Ram Gopal Varma remaking “Sholay No it’s not the mixed feelings everyone around has about it. And No, that inspite of being RGV, one of the creative, “experimental†guys in Bollywood, remaking Sholay would mean igniting intense feelings amongst the movie fanatics who don’t want him to clone their favorite baby.
The weirdest thing is that the Sippys – the makers of Sholay, do not want Ram Gopal Varma to go ahead with the project. Since they claim they have the rights to Sholay and have not transferred these rights of remake to Varma, there seems to be a legal battle brewing up. Varma and his camp though claim they have the rights and ...
Corporate Ladder: Never Number 2
Wednesday, August 24th, 2005
We spend all our lives trying to climb the corporate ladder. Push ourselves over our limits to make it there. There are some who make it, some who don’t. Of all the steps in the corporate ladder, beware of the No. 2 position. It’s a funny position. It’s a difficult position (Yeah I know I’m funny and difficult but that’s not what I’m about to say).
So here I am as the No. 2 guy in the whole department. I should be smiling. I am not. Firstly the No. 2 reminds me of the code we had at Catholic school. The code was “Teacher I want to go for No. 2†– in today’s language ...
Sehar, the movie – An honest attempt
Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005
There are good movies. There are crappy movies. There are those borderline crappy-good movies, which leaves you scratching your head. And then there are movies which find the perfect balance between art and commercial cinema. In these later kinds of movies, some flop whereas some come out with flying colors (Dil Chahta Hai, Arjun, Naam, Saaransh).
Sehar is one such kind of movie. It’s flopped though because the subject according to so called “critics†is stale. To me it was gritty, fast forward, focused on what the team wanted to show. One dimensional story?…yes. But it is an honest attempt at making good cinema. The backdrop of the story will remind one a lot about “Haasil†(2003). ...
Alpha or Arrogance?
Friday, August 19th, 2005
The more I dig deep into the secretive pickup community and learn the art and science of a good clean pickup, the more I find that it’s all about being an Alpha male. At times I think it is not that difficult a science as it is being made out to be, and other times I end up thinking…well, forget about it. Here’s a recent discussion I started about the fine line between being an Alpha and an arrogant ass. It has kind of sparked off a heated debate amongst a few in the PU community….

Thanks to Sulekha, the Indian website, for shutting down their Weblog section. That got me started on moving my blogs from Sulekha to Blogspot. The fine Art of Pickup and meeting Beautiful Women
Thursday, August 18th, 2005
Too many things to put down in my journal; just haven’t had the time. It’s as if when you have too many things, they end up blocking in each other from pouring out. And it’s amazing to see the new things you experience if you can get past your limiting beliefs. Now learning about the art of pickup (women or just pure social), I find it amazing how limiting beliefs have stopped us from talking to strangers in a social environment.
With the ever atomizing society, its no wonder our belief systems make each of us live lonelier lives. And I’m talking of a typical single life in L.A. or N.Y. or even in Bombay ...
Confrontations, Workplace, Books and Sedona
Wednesday, August 17th, 2005
Is confrontation necessary? And if it is how does, one handle it? I know it calls for different strategies in different situations. But if you are one of the types who can resolve anybody else’s situation rather smoothly, BUT, if you are in the same situation you end up making a mess of it….Welcome to the club.
So there are people at work who are “trouble makersâ€. Or to put it in a decent way they are those whose inner system for survival or to get the adrenalin rush depends on instigating others around them. Please meet my Payroll Manager. Now for the last two years it’s been a smooth sailing with respect to the ...
Forced Vacation…what to do?
Thursday, August 11th, 2005
So my boss calls me yesterday morning.
Boss: So how are things?
Oz: Pretty good. Project X is flying and progressing well beyond my….
Boss: (cuts in) No I mean outside your professional life
Oz: (suspicious, but smiles) Fine…why, what’s up?
Boss: It’s just that I, and I mean others too, find you are sort of gone into a shell in the last few weeks. Just concerned, is everything alright?
Oz: (thinking if this is not a prelude to “we have to let you goâ€)…no, it must be that I haven’t fully recovered from the cold and flu.
Boss: You look tired too. Listen you look like you need a break. You haven’t taken a vacation for quite some time.
Oz: ...
Friday Mirchi
Friday, August 5th, 2005
It’s been some 10 days. From my “American mom†visiting me, news about my first love, breakups, buying a DAP, rings to wear from home, flu, taking a painful decision to not go to Canada for a break…
It’s surprising how at times you click with someone over the phone in spite of never having seen the person. It’s all the more surprising that you manage to keep that chemistry over 5 years and yet not having met in person. It’s been that way with my ‘American momma’. Well she’s started being my counselor on the east coast, while I worked on the west. And every time we talk it’s nothing but fireworks. So it ...
Pickup: The Bitch Shield
Monday, August 1st, 2005
First things first. I’m gonna eat some of the words I’ve mentioned in the past. No, the Hottest Babes aren’t taken by the richest guys. The hottest babes are first taken away by the Alpha males and if there are any left, they go to the rich guys. So things mentioned in one of my past blogs, are hereby withdrawn. My bad.
Having dropped the misconceptions one may have had about approaching women, the first thing I came across was the “Bitch Shieldâ€. Of course to tackle this B.S. you have to be an Alpha. But let’s get the single FC guys (FC – Frustrated Chumps) a little bit of a shocker, and talk about ...
